Why Did We Choose the Name Crossbridge?
It is a strange word to choose, so why did we choose it?
Grace
Grace? Yes, Grace. When Adam freely chose to disobey God (We call that sin) in the garden of Eden, Adam’s disobedience caused a wide gap between God and us. We inherit Adam’s rebellious nature, and so our natural inclination is to also sin against God, which we cannot solve through good works or rituals. Due to this deficit, God provided His perfect solution to bridge this gap between Him and us.
Where’s the Grace?
It is the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross who died once and for all for our sin. Thus, the cross of Christ is the bridge of reconciliation between God and us. We can know God personally just by repenting of our sin and putting our faith in Christ that He died in our place on the cross to pay the just penalty for our sin. When we trust in Him, then the cross becomes the bridge that makes possible a personal relationship between us and God. Amazing grace!
What does this mean for me?
A lot. The implications of this are:
-
God loves you and has gone to great lengths to prove that.
-
You are special to God and He wants to have a loving relationship with you.
-
Through this loving relationship, God has a divine purpose for you.
What does this mean for Crossbridge?
Again, a lot
-
We want everyone to have the opportunity to experience that loving relationship with God
-
We want everyone who walks into Crossbridge to know that they are special to God
-
We want to help people experience Grace on their lives and grow closer with God
So that’s why we chose the name Crossbridge. We want to help people just like you experience Grace in a community environment. It does not matter what you have done or where you are from. The invitation is open to all.
Come and join us for a worship service on a Sunday morning to experience this for yourself. If you want some more information, give us a call or send us an email to church@crossbridgeofocean.org.
