“Sharing the Gospel in a Fast Changing World!” Part 4
Bible Text: John 20:24-29 | Preacher: Rev. Dr. Lou Saldiveri | Series: Sunday Morning Worship | “Sharing the Gospel in a Fast Changing World” Part 4 John 20:24-31
Intro: As you and I investigate a bit further sharing the gospel in a fast changing world, there are several realities of which we need to be reminded. Church and God are view with much doubt and skepticism these days. The truth of the matter is that we need to take responsibility for some of this. Here is why:
There have been major scandals in many branches of the American church in the past 15 years
There has been a lack of transparency in leadership in the church and in our culture
There are some cultural issues need to be recognized by the church and addressed:
Loneliness and disconnection.
Doubt and skepticism.
Mistrust and Sarcasm.
Perceived Irrelevance of the church (Credit Faith For Exiles, David Kinnaman & Mark Matlock)
These are the realities which face the evangelical church today. How we own and face those issues will determine the influence and effectiveness of the evangelical church today and in the future. This passage in John 20:24-31, we see some great insights that could help us going forward with the unchanging message of the gospel.
A Group of Christ Followers (The Church) Should Be A Place of Connection
The Church Should Be a Place for Honest Doubters
The Church Should Be a Place for Growing Together in Christ
Closing: So how are we doing with sharing the gospel in a fast changing world? Are we building relational bridges? Are we telling people our story? Are we willing to engage with honest doubters? Are we willing to give room to honest doubters even in the church?
