Lovingly Obey Christ!
Bible Text: 1 Samuel 15:1-35 | Preacher: Rev. Dr. Lou Saldiveri | Series: Sunday Morning Worship | — Pastor Lou’s Notes —
Intro: Before we dig into this chapter this morning, you and I need to understand the context. God, in His great grace, had given Saul many opportunities to trust Him and live by faith. However, Saul continued to fail the test. The Bible is filled with the motif that the only response to the grace and love of God for us in Christ is loving obedience.
We need to remember that when we disobey God, we break our fellowship with Him. Consequently, we will miss out on some blessings, God’s wisdom, guidance, and power. In this passage, God give us three symptoms of a disobedient heart.
1.
Ignoring Part of God’s Word
2.
Superficial Confession
3.
Religion or Loving Obedience
Closing: The question you and I need to ask today is how are we doing in the area of lovingly obeying God? Do we pick and choose what we want to obey or not obey from the Scriptures? Are our confessions just words without repentance?
