Most Bible Scholars consider Joel one of the earliest prophets of Judah, dating between 830 and 750 B.C. This is a book of God’s coming judgment for a rebellious Israel. Joel’s name in Hebrew means “The Lord, Yahweh, is God.

God sent Joel to preach repentance and restoration to the rebellious Jews. God sent an invasion of locusts to devastate the land and offered an invitation for Israel to repent and be restored to fellowship with God individually.
