Know The Marks of True Friendship!

Passage: 1 Samuel 20
Service Type:

Bible Text: 1 Samuel 20 | Preacher: Rev. Dr. Lou Saldiveri | Series: Sunday Morning Worship | — Pastor Lou’s Notes —
Intro: I believe there are friends, acquaintances, and then true friends. If a person has 1 or 2 true close friends, they are fortunate. I am not sure in this day and age if we know or are trained in knowing the marks of true friendship. I would even say that a true friend is more valuable than expensive diamonds.
In this passage, God gives us great insights into the marks of true friendship.

etc
2.
They keep promises to each other

1.

2.
Protect
3.

Friends Communicate With Each Other v. 1-2

Closing: As you and I reflect on this passage, remember that true friendship is a twp way street. Too many people make friendship a one way relationship which always ends up in manipulation and frustration. So each person in a friendship needs to develop and cultivate the 3 marks of true friendship.

Also let us reflect on God’s grace. In Christ, we are God’s friends. Look at John 15:13-26. As you and I gather around the Lord’s Table, may I suggest the greatest Friend you and I have is the Lord Jesus Christ. His table is a time to reaffirm our loyalty to the One who died on the cross for my sin.
1.
Jesus showed us how much He values us when he went to the cross.
2.
At the communion table, Jesus reaffirms His commitment to us and we need to affirm our commitment to Him
3.
At the communion table, we can have honest, open, and grace filled communication with Him. This is called confession and repentance.
