Know Christ’s Peace

Passage: Micah 5
Service Type:

Bible Text: Micah 5 | Preacher: Rev. Dr. Lou Saldiveri | Series: Sunday Morning Worship

— Pastor Lou’s Notes —
Intro: Last week, we talked about true hope that can only come from God through Jesus Christ. When we fix or eyes on Jesus and the truth of God (His Word), what will follow then is the peace that can only come from an on going love affair with Christ. That love affair then results in hope and a peace that surpasses all understanding. Micah gives us 3 valuable insights concerning Christ’s peace. In order to catch a glimpse of Christ’s peace and to experience His peace in a real way, we need to understand:

1. Know Christ is holy
1. Sin is serious
2. Christ’s holiness should make us aware of our utter sinfulness
3. Christ took on the sin of the world and paid the penalty once and for all

2. Know Christ is our Redeemer
1. There will always be a remnant of believing Jews
2. There will always be some gentiles who believe
3. They will bring freshness to a world saturated with the stench of sin

3. Know Christ is able
1. Christ is eternal
2. Christ will meet any enemy that comes into our lives
1. HE WILL NEVER LEAVE US OR FORSAKE US
2. He may bring us through times where he need to strip away from us our idols and security blankets so that we learn to depend upon Him for all our needs as we are lovingly obedient to Christ
3. He may not take away the trials or troubles that come our way, but he will help strengthen our faith as we go through them
4. When He comes back, He will defeat His enemies and the enemies of Isreal

3. Christ is all powerful
4. Christ has both the power and authority to keep His promises

4. Know Christ offers grace
1. Christ is always ready to redeem, rebuke, and renew!
2. Grace makes forgiveness possible
3. Grace is a result of the love of Christ
4. Christ’s love should lead us to repentance and faith
5. Christ’s love is a holy love

Closing:
What are you going through today? Do you need the peace of the One who loves you far more than you or I realize? Are you willing to celebrate the forgiveness that has been won for us at the cross? Are we willing to fall deeper in love with Christ?
