“Being Made Alive!” Romans 6:1-14
You have heard me say that Christianity is not a religion but a lifestyle lived in unity with Christ from the inside out. Let’s take a moment to define some terms. Religion is humanity’s attempt to reach God and earn God’s love and forgiveness. Christianity is God reaching down to sinful humanity through the Person and work of Jesus Christ, giving humanity the opportunity to receive forgiveness and new life through repentance and faith. In this passage, Paul uses the symbol of baptism to illustrate what happens theologically when a person is born again by faith in the Person and work of Jesus Christ. Our salvation is all by faith alone, and living a new life in Christ is also lived by faith.
