Why Are the Marks of the King Important?

Passage: John 20
Service Type:

Bible Text: John 20 | Preacher: Rev. Dr. Lou Saldiveri | Series: Sunday Morning Worship

How does God meet us at our point of doubt?

— Pastor Lou’s Notes —————–
Intro: We live in a skeptical and paranoid culture. In a very real way, we live in a time of doubt and mistrust.

1. Thomas’ weakness
1. Withdrawing from the fellowship
1. He chose isolation rather than being together

2. Left his support system

2. Thomas’ strength
1. He was an honest man
1. He was looking for a faith with a firm foundation
2. He did not want to parrot a faith.

2. He needed to be fully convinced in his mind and heart
3. When he was convinced, he was fully committed to Christ

3. The Marks of the King are still important today
1. The church
2. The unity of the Spirit
3. The fellowship of believers
4. The miracle of salvation

4. Jesus is alive!
1. Jesus told the truth
1. He said after three days, He would be raised from the dead

2. He was raised in the power of the God
1. His death was vindicated and accepted by the Father and the Spirit

3. His mission of salvation was completed
4. Jesus was glorified
5. He is Lord
1. He defeated Satan
2. He defeated death
3. He defeated sin

6. Faith is a reasonable faith
7. Commitment needs to be total

Closing: Easter is the reminder of Jesus’ love for us. It is a reminder of new life and purpose when we trust Christ. We take part in the resurrection life of Christ by faith and in the power of the Holy Spirit.
