“A Lesson in Humility!” John 3:22-36
Intro: When we meet someone who exhibits godly humility, we cannot help but be encouraged. Biblical humility is a fruit that comes from a right relationship with God through Jesus Christ. If a person believes he/she is humble, there is a very high probability that they are not.
“Pride makes us artificial and humility makes us real.” -Thomas Merton
“True humility is not an abject, groveling, self-despising spirit; it is but a right estimate of ourselves as God sees us.” -Tryon Edwards
“Humility isn’t denying your strengths; it’s being honest about your weaknesses.” -Rick Warren
“As long as you are proud you cannot know God. A proud man is always looking down on things and people: and, of course, as long as you are looking down you cannot see something that is above you.” ― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
John 3:22-36 offers us a great lesson about biblical humility. After Jesus’ conversation with Nicodemus, Jesus went to the Judean countryside.
