“Walk In the Grace of Jesus!” Colossians 3:15-17

Passage: Colossians 3:15-17

“Walk In the  Grace of Jesus”

Be thankful

When the peace of God rules in the heart of a Christ follower, thankfulness will follow

The literal translation  is, “Let the peace of God be the umpire in your heart”.

When we battle with the  old  nature  and our new nature  in Christ, the Holy Spirit will  lead us in the way to do what glorifies Christ. When we need to invite Hesus to  be our  umpire.

We need to be ready to confess and repent of sin in our lives otherwise, our fellowship with God is broken and we will loose our true peace.

Study the Word

This is part of the process of our continued transformation from the inside out

We need to permit the Holy Spirit to be our guide, the One who reveals sin in our lives that needs to be confessed, the One who opens out hearts and mind to the treasures in Scripture, the One who gives us the desire and the power to do the will of God

We need to avail ourselves to Bible studies and discipleship groups

Encourage one another through music

Out of our prayer life, study of the Scriptures, and a God given heart of love we can do the following through music:

With God’s wisdom

Through psalms, hymns. and songs from the Spirit

Sing with gratitude

3. Do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus

What does this mean practically?

Perhaps we can ask this question: If Jesus was here right now, would He be pleased with what I am saying or doing?

In all aspects of my life?

Remember we belong to Christ hence, we bear the name Christian

We are His ambassadors in this time and place

Many times, we are the only Bible people see

So the question is what will they see when we are in the home, neighborhood, work place, classroom, in the stores, etc. What will they see when we encounter trials and tribulations?

Closing: I would encourage each and everyone of us to read through Colossians 3:9-17 several times this week and ask the Holy Spirit to show us what areas of our life we need to bring  under the authority of Christ and His word. I will submit to you, this is a life long process.
