“Pray and Get Involved!” James 5:13-20

Passage: James 5:13-20
Service Type:

Bible Text: James 5:13-20 | Preacher: Rev. Dr. Lou Saldiveri | Series: Sunday Morning Worship | “Prayer and Get Involved!” James 5:13-20
There is an alarming rate of profession Christ followers who have and are drifting for Jesus and the truth of Scripture. Generally speaking, the church needs to take some responsibility for this trend because many of us have become lax in genuine discipleship.

These last few verses in James is a call to pray and feet actively involved in discipleship. The situation being addressed is one where a Christ follower begins to wander away from and the truth of Scripture. The Old Testament writers used the term, “backslider” to describe a person in this situation.

James tells us to pray and get involved!

1) We Need to Pray
A) Pray in humility
B) Confess and repent of our own sin
C) Go with a humble, compassionate, and loving, attitude

2) We are to be proactive
A) Don’t assume someone else will do it
B) Remember some of the reasons that Christ followers may wander from the truth. Go with an open mind which is ready to listen.
C) Always point them back to the grace and forgiveness of God through faith.
D) If they turn back to God, you may rescue them from sever consequences of their wandering.

Closing: So, are we willing to pray and get involved? Next, are we willing to be a disciple and disciple others?
